June 16 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Michael Wigle at 7:35 p.m. at the Elberon United Methodist Church. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call follows:

A quorum was established.

Minutes of the May 19, 2008 meeting were read. A correction was made that the meeting had adjourned at 8:40 and not 7:40. Minutes were approved as corrected on motion of Bob Pessler/Tom Gamel.

Motion Hogan/Pessler moved that we send a thank you letter to Benken Florists for their donation of flowers used at the Wilder gateway. Motion carried.

Motion Mary Croft/Pessler that we send a thank you letter to Julie Durbin Landscaping for the donation of flower pots in the park. Motion carried.

A special thanks to Patti Hogan and Bob Greenlee for planting the flowers.

Erica Respus of Hamilton County Child and Family Services expressed the need for foster families and urged residents to consider helping.

New Business
Motion Jim Schenck/Bob Pessler moved that EPHIA assist in improving Price Hill as the greenest neighborhood in Cincinnati. Motion carried.

Jan Craig, Business Manager for Habitat for Humanity explained plans for the house at 2848 Claypoole.

Motion Frank Hollister/Mary Cook moved that we approve the recommendation for the planned house on Claypoole. Discussion followed. Motion John Wall/Bob Pessler moved to table the motion. A residents only vote. Ayes 19; No's 10; Abstentions 3. Motion carried.

Motion Ginger Boller/Rosalie Pietras moved that we do not support another new liquor license for the mini mart at 3409 W 8th St. Ayes 15; Nays 8; Abstentions 9. Motion carried.

Announcements
Annual Picnic. The President announced that the annual EPHIA picnic would be on July 21 at 6:30. Heather Wiegle will chair the event. All Price Hill residents are welcome.

The president announced that he had received a communication advising the Public Utilities Commission has approved raising customer charges over 300% over the next year.

Open House. The Cincinnati Fire Department will have open house in the all firehouses on October 11, 2008, from 1:00 5:00 p.m.

Concert. The Fine Arts Community Action Team of Price Hill Will is presenting a concert on the lawn of Seton High School on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m. It will be featuring the University of Cincinnati Alumni Community Band. Bring a lawn chair. For additional information, contact Andy Backs at 921-6564.

Safety CAT
Good Guy Loitering will be on Friday, June 20. There will be community picnic on McPherson on Saturday, June 28 from 12-3.

Parks Committee. Jim Turner announced Shakespeare presentation at Mt. Echo Park on Sunday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Nominating Committee
The following persons agreed to serve on the nominating committee: Rosalie Pietras; Bob Pessler; Sean Hafer; Brenda Swisshelm. The president will appoint three members from the board.
